Just got this funny video from a friend and thought I'd share. Its just a short cartoon showing how some of the iPhone 4-Crackheads really think lol! Not iPhone user bashing but there are definitely plenty out there like this...
Better late than never right?! Here is the iPhone 4 Quick Review as promised. I have to say while the iPhone 4 has some impressive features I'm not quite blown away. iPhone 3GS owners should defintely check out iOS4 on their devices and play with the new iPhone 4 first before taking the multi-hundred dollar dive. The new Retina screen is very crisp and displays very true colors, but I really would've liked to have seen Apple include a larger display. iPhone 4 definitely has typical iPhone speed and snappiness you are used to and the improved processor has no problem handling the new functionality and beautiful animations.
And what kind of review would this be without an iPhone 4, HTC Evo 4G comparison. We compare the two devices and provide a few photo and video samples. Check out the vids!
Special thanks to my boy Rich for coming thru with the iPhone 4!!!
I've been waiting for 3D technology to get to a point when glasses are no longer needed and it is here. Surprisingly however it's not in the form of a HD TV like most would expect but instead in the screen of the best selling video game console in the world the Nintendo DS; introducing the new Nintendo 3DS! Nintendo's newest version of their portable gaming system sports a cutting edge 3D screen that requires no glasses! To be honest I'm much more excited about the glasses-less screen tech than the game system. Hopefully this 3D display tech will see its way into our living room in the form of a TV within the next year or so! Check out the video below for more detail
Check out Engadet for more detail and a list of games that will be available at launch
AS promised HTC and Sprint have delivered an OTA (over the air) update to fix a few quirks some people where experiencing with their Evo's.
The update HTC Evo 4G Software version 1.47.651.1 includes:
Improvements to Wi-Fi performance Improvements and fixes for Exchange and Active Sync functions (issues with new account and PIN policy) Issues with Facebook Sync which can improve battery life
If you haven't already gotten a notice; from your home screen hit menu->Settings-> System updates-> Firmware Updates. Your phone should search for the update and it will take several minutes for the whole process.
UPDATE 6/29/10: DO NOT ATTEMPT TO UPDATE MORE THAN ONCE!!! I know that sounds obvious but some users updated, then immediately tried again and their phones got bricked (thats tech-nerd for f@#ked!!)... For some reason it will still tell you update available after an update and will still let you re-apply the update. Sprint and HTC are aware of the issue and have stopped all updates. I will post new news whenever Sprint/HTC get this fixed...smh
Things just keep getting better for Android fans especially if you happen to be a Verizon customer. Verizon seems committed to providing the most extensive Android lineup with their Droids and this summer the Droid that started it all gets a sequel. The phone is said to launch August 23rd and will ship with Android 2.2 (Froyo) out of the box!!!!
The Droid 2 is very similar to its predecessor except for a few key areas; the processor will get a bump up to the industry leading 1Ghz Processor, and there have been some changes in the keyboard layout, mainly a new set of directional keys replacing the directional pad on the first Droid. There are also some aesthetic changes that kinda smooth out the front of the phone. Other than that its the same 3.7 inch screen and 5MP camera. Check out the video comparison below to see for yourself.
Samsung is hitting all the US carriers hard this summer with similar devices for all of the major US cell carriers. The Samsung Epic 4G's keyboardless brothers have been announced for Verizon (Samsung Fascinate), T-Mobile (Samsung Vibrant) and AT&T (Samsung Captivate). All of these devices are variations of the same general phone the Samsung Galaxy S (or in the case of the Epic 4G the Galaxy S Pro) in what appears to be an attempt by Samsung to develop some universal brand recognition across carriers.
All of these devices have:
1Ghz processor 4 inch Super-AMOLED screens 5MP camera with 720p video camcorders Included Storage cards will vary with each carrier but it looks like they will all have at least 2GB included
The devices seem to be priced around $199.99 on a 2yr contract and each will come loaded with different goodies depending on the carrier. T-Mobile has confirmed that theirs (Samsung Vibrant) will be available July 21st for $200 and will include the Sims 3, Avatar (full length movie), live TV through MobiTV and E-Books with Kindle for Android.
Check out video of the AT&T version Samsung Captivate below:
For those of you who skipped the Evo 4G and iPhone 4 in hopes of something with a physical keyboard you are in luck, Sprint recently announced their newest Android handset the Samsung Epic 4G. The phone appears to be everything the Samsung Moment should've been. It will run on Android 2.1 but I'm guessing it will likely get an update to 2.2. It will also come with Qik video chat application pre-installed like the Evo! No official price or launch date have been announced yet... On paper it looks GREAT so let's just hope Samsung got it right this time and this thing is not full of issues like the Moment.
The Samsung Epic 4G will have:
4 inch Super-AMOLED screen
1Ghz processor
5MP main camera with LED flash and 720p video camcorder
VGA front facing camera for video chat
WIFI, 3G and 4G Data with the ability to function as a wifi hotspot for up to 5 devices
I don't have an iPhone 4, but if I did I damn sure wouldn't want to put it in some big bulky case and hide its design. If you're willing to pass up the extra padding in a full case Stealthshield may be for you! It appears to be more of an anti-scratch shield for the back and front of your phone. Additionally it has rubber guards that cover the external antenna which has been found to cause reception issues in some devices. Check out the full article at Gizmodo.com
I promise this is the last "Quick Review Preview" I will have the full iPhone 4 Review soon (like tomorrow hopefully;) )
Meanwhile check out this quick video comparing the iPhone 4's hardware to the HTC Evo 4G, HTC Droid Incredible, and the iPhone 3G. And again full review coming soon!!!
Ok so this isn't really much of a "VS" per-say, but I did want to show off the differences and the many similarities between these two devices. I don't go too much into the actual operation or OS on the Droid Incredible, but that's because it is nearly identical to the Evo. If you haven't gotten a chance to see it, check out the various Evo review videos in the blog....
The Incredible has:
1 Ghz processor (again fast, the same as the Evo)
3.7" screen
8MP camera/camecorder (WVGA 800x480)
Android 2.1 with HTC Sense U.I. (Most likely will be upgraded to Android 2.2 Froyo "soon")
Field Test on battery got "about a day" on a charge
Special thanks to my boy Sterling for coming thru with the Incredible!
HTC announced that the HTC Evo 4G will be getting an update to Android 2.2 (code named Froyo or Frozen Yogurt) "soon" whatever "soon" means..."Soon" was like 6 months with the HTC HERO and 2.1 update smh. Hopefully the launch of the iPhone 4 and the impending launch of the Droid X will motivate HTC and Sprint to get this pushed out by the beginning of next month!
The new software brings some nice new features. Some of which your carrier will likely block like FREE WIFI hotspot features that let you use your phone as a modem (Sprint currently charges $30/month and Verizon $20/month)!
One nice new feature that will make your iPhone buddies jealous is full Flash 10.0 support! This will allow a full web browsing experience that Google claims will be the fastest. It will also open up a TON of FREE web based games! Most likely why Apple DOESN'T want any parts of flash support, they want you buying those APPS!!!
Lets keep our fingers crossed for an Independence Day weekend release!
Check out an example of the flash games running on Android 2.2 Below:
I've been causally mentioning the Droid X in other posts and tweets lately, well it just got all the way official. Verizon customers get your bread up, the new Droid X drops July 15th! Best Buy started taking Pre-orders TODAY!! The Devices will be $200 on a 2yr contract. I recommend getting at Best Buy too if you want to avoid those annoying mail in rebates. The Droid X WILL be Verizon's premier smart phone (at least for a few month's until the next Droid-whatever drops lol). iPhone 4 got another challenger ;) !
The Droid X has:
1Ghz processor = FAST!!!
4.3" Screen HD screen 854x480 resolution (Same size as the HTC Evo 4G!)
8MP Camera/Camcorder with 720p video recording with LED Flash
Again not tech related but VERY necessary. I just downloaded and listened to this new Dead Prez and its some real shit. Give your brain some nourishment, De-Waka-Flocka-fy your cerebellum and listen! Download link below
So here's another non-tech post. Gotta pub my sister and my school. As we begin to approach football season, those of you in Ohio will hopefully hear more of this new Ohio State Buckeye's anthem written and performed by my sister (me and my brother co-wrote a little of it) and produced by my boy Rob. You can follow us all on twitter @PhreshPrinz (ME)@JaDoreHeights (sis), @TevyeWill (bro) and @irObb4beatz (Rob)
Well in the shadow of all the new Super-Smart phones like the HTC Evo 4G, iPhone 4, Samsung Galaxy, Droid Incredible, and Droid X, Rim has officially announced it's newest contender the BlackBerry 9800! But my question is does it even matter?! Looking at the iPhone 4 and the onslaught of Android based devices this phone doesn't even come close to grabbing my attention. The new BlackBerry will have a touch screen and a slide out qwerty keyboard it will also be rocking BB's newest OS version Blackberry OS 6.... Will it be enough to combat the feature packed competition and to save #teamBlackBerry? Guess we'll soon see..... BTW did I mention its on AT&T #fail

So like the rest of you guys I'm into more than just phones; and next to the Evo and iPhone 4 hype everything seems to be about Drake the last few weeks. After his series of mixtapes I was really feeling him, but not sure how I feel about all his damn singing on his first official album. The lyrics, and the crazy ass lines he used to spit seem to have taken the back seat to nasal-ly extended hooks. Just my opinion. I can say the more I listen to the album the more it's growing on me and there are definitely some tracks I'm feeling but just it's just not on the level of his mixtapes (I know how backwards that sounds lol). MTV interviewed the Young Money All-Star catch the full documentary at one of my favorite sites here at TheHoodNerd.com
While at best buy today exchanging the case for my Evo, I bumped into my dude buying the new iPhone 4. I have to say that I am somewhat underwhelmed BUT I haven't had a chance to really play with it yet and check out its "new" features like multitasking etc. I will say the screen is quite crisp, but I'll take my 4.3" screen on the Evo over it with out hesitation. Full review and Evo comparison coming soon..... P.S. the video is shot using my Evo!
I had to add this to my blog once I saw it. Its one of the best Evo Reviews by my frat Aceofthedynasty. Its got a live beat, and he spits on here, plus good info on the Evo! Check it out:
